The crisis we face is rooted not only in our faltering economy but also in our national failure to confront major challenges, from education to energy to health care. At the same time, President Obama has inspired renewed interest in public service, providing a historic opportunity to mobilize people to address problems that have been ignored for too long.

The mission of Jobs for Change is to help take full advantage of this opportunity by recruiting a new generation of leaders into the nonprofit, government, and social enterprise sectors.

StartingBloc is currently seeking a talented and dynamic new Executive Director to lead a small and highly mission-driven organization into its next phase of growth and to ensure StartingBloc’s continued and sustainable recognition as a leader in the fields of social innovation, social entrepreneurship, cross-sector partnerships, and sustainability. Working closely with the Director of Programs, Board of Directors, and an engaged group of StartingBloc alumni, the Executive Director will have primary responsibility for all management and leadership functions, including fundraising and partnership-building, strategic planning, financial management, infrastructure and growth development, board of directors’ development, as well as programmatic impact.

Atlas Service Corps seeks nonprofit leaders from around the world to apply for their 2009-2010 fellowship positions in Washington, DC and Bogota, Colombia. All expenses are paid in this prestigious, fellowship program, including a living stipend, health insurance, visa, travel, training, and a $2,500 end of service award.

Applicants must have 3 or more years of experience in the nonprofit sector, a college degree, fluency in English (and Spanish if applying to volunteer in Colombia), and a commitment to returning to their home country after one year.

Candidates from outside the U.S. are placed at outstanding host organizations in Washington, DC including Ashoka, Asian American LEAD, CentroNía, Grameen Foundation, TechnoServe, GlobalGiving, and Population Action International. Candidates from the U.S. are placed at organizations in Bogota like Give to Colombia and Oxfam GB. In addition to volunteering full time at their host organizations. Fellows are enrolled in a management development training program and join a growing network of nonprofit leaders from around the world.

The research group focuses on understanding academia’s transition to an electronic environment so that it can be managed most effectively. We provide actionable insights into the ways that new technologies affect the scholarly community, focusing specifically on the transition from a print to an electronic environment for research, teaching, publishing, and library collecting. We pursue research projects for which there is demonstrable demand, guided both by individual clients and an external advisory committee, and then share the findings broadly. We seek a talented, energetic Research Analyst to play an active role on the Research team. You will take principal day-to-day responsibility for one or more major research projects. Our research projects fall into three broad areas of interest:

* The changing information-services needs and practices of faculty members and students; and
* Technology-assisted forms of teaching and learning and the impacts they may have on higher education.

* Undertake a variety of different kinds of research (from interviews and document analysis to economic and survey techniques, depending on the project);
